Appearing on the news studio of “Ora News,” sociologist Suela Kocibellinj commented on the tragic incident in Maliq, where a 14-year-old lost his life at the hands of a peer, describing it as a social drama with lasting, indelible consequences.

“These are wounds that never heal. The death of a 14-year-old is a wound that affects not only his family but society as a whole.

Today, in the midst of summer, when people are trying to enjoy their few days of leisure, we are confronted with yet another trauma and social drama. Two young people, instead of celebrating there are many summer festivities end up in conflict, for trivial reasons. A 14-year-old can never have a serious reason to take someone else’s life; yet it happens that a 14-year-old kills a peer without fully understanding the importance and value of life.

What is happening with our 14-year-olds?

“I think this is a key question if we were to have a defining sentence, it would be: look at what is happening and let’s try to fix it.

We are talking about social phenomena that are never caused today just to bring consequences tomorrow; they are carried over years.

It starts with their parents, or perhaps even earlier, with the way they were raised, the way they brought their children into the world, and with how much love, dedication, and attention they managed to pass on to their children.

I know not all adolescents commit murder, but all adolescents are adolescents that means they are impulsive, they do not understand fear, and they do not realize how important life is. That part of the brain that helps understand the consequences is not yet fully developed,” Kocibellinj stated.
