Prime Minister Edi Rama made some jokes with Professor William P. Barnet during the presentation of the “Start Up” platform. While speaking about online services, Rama said that the issue of online marriages has not yet been resolved, as witnesses are required.
Meanwhile, when Professor Barnet asked Rama if online divorces could be done, he replied that divorces are easier, as he has experience with them.
Rama: “We haven’t yet resolved the problem of online marriages; this is still something we haven’t fully implemented because witnesses are needed—but it could also be done.”
Prof. William P. Barnet: “But can you do a divorce online?”
Rama: “I firmly believe that divorces, because I have some experience, are simpler—they can be done over WhatsApp and then formalized in the courtroom. But marriage is a bit more difficult as a process. These are blessings generated by technology, and AI gives us new opportunities.”
