Skënderaj-Skënderbeu 3-2 (25-27, 25-14, 25-19, 19-25, 15-11)

Skënderbeu is defeated in 2 hours and 9 minutes of play in Kosovo, with the score ending 3-2. However, the team still maintains the lead in Group A of the “Gjergj Kastrioti” League. It was a beautiful match filled with emotions, but once again, the red-and-white girls could not overcome Skënderaj, a team that has beaten Skënderbeu twice before.

The first set started well for Skënderaj’s girls, who led 4-1, but Skënderbeu quickly equalized at 4-4. The game was competitive, with ties at 9-9 and 13-13 before Skënderbeu took a 14-17 lead. However, the Kosovar team managed to level the score at 18-18. The set remained close until the final points, with ties at 23-23 and 25-25, but Skënderbeu capitalized on the last two points to win 25-27 and take a 0-1 lead in sets.

The second set was the weakest for the red-and-white girls of Koja, as Skënderaj took an early 5-2 lead, scoring consecutively to extend their advantage to 11-3. This significant gap proved unassailable, with the score later at 14-5 and 19-9 before Skënderaj closed the set at 25-14, tying the match at 1-1.

Skënderbeu struggled again in the third set, with Skënderaj leading 6-3 and then 12-6. Despite Koja’s substitutions, the team couldn’t improve its performance. The scores progressed to 17-10 and 20-14, and Skënderaj eventually won the set 25-19, taking a 2-1 lead in sets.

The fourth set saw a revival for Skënderbeu. Despite a slow start at 5-2, the team managed to turn things around, with scores of 12-12, 15-17, and 18-20. They ultimately closed the set at 19-25, leveling the match at 2-2 in sets.

The fifth and final set began with Skënderaj taking a 4-2 lead, but Skënderbeu equalized at 5-5. However, Skënderaj regained control, leading 9-7. Despite Koja making substitutions, Skënderaj pushed ahead to 11-8, prompting Koja to call a timeout. The timeout proved ineffective, as Skënderaj extended their lead to 13-9 and eventually sealed the set at 15-11, winning the match 3-2.

Despite the loss, Skënderbeu remains at the top of Group A with 11 points, while Skënderaj is second with 8 points. Skënderbeu’s final match against Tirana in two days will almost certainly secure their top position in the group.
