A journalist was hit with a phone and the cameraman’s recordings were damaged: one arrested and two prosecuted

Two media workers, a journalist and a cameraman, were victims of a violent attack while performing their duties.

The incident occurred yesterday when, according to authorities, 67-year-old F. M. struck journalist D.B. on the back with a phone. Meanwhile, two private security guards, Q. L., 64, and H. B., 52, damaged the cameraman E.E.’s camera, obstructing his work.

The 67-year-old has been arrested, while the two security guards are facing criminal proceedings but remain free.

“Specialists from the Criminal Investigation Unit of Police Station No. 3 arrested F.M., 67, and referred materials to the Prosecutor’s Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against Q.L., 64, and H.B., 52. Yesterday, journalist D.B. reported that she was obstructed while performing her duties and was struck on the back with a phone by F.M. At the same time, cameraman E.E., accompanying her, was obstructed in performing his duties, and his camera was partially damaged by the private guards Q.L. and H.B.,” police reported.

All procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
