A woman was stopped at the border crossing after attempting to leave Albania with 35,000 euros that had not been declared

Police have stopped a woman at the Kakavija border crossing as she was attempting to leave Albania. In her bag, authorities found 34,700 euros that had not been declared.


Criminal proceedings were initiated against her while she remains free, for the criminal offense of “Failure to declare money and valuables at the border.” The amount of money was also seized as material evidence.


Police announcement:


As part of the ongoing work by the Border Police services at Kakavija Border Crossing Point, aimed at preventing and combating illegal activities at the border, a check was carried out on the bag of citizen D.B., where 34,700 euros were found, which she had not declared in accordance with the law.


Following procedural actions related to the case, specialists from the Crime Investigation Sector of DVKM Gjirokastër referred the materials to the Prosecutor’s Office, where proceedings were initiated while the citizen D.B., a resident of Burrel, remains free, for the criminal offense of “Failure to declare money and valuables at the border.” The amount of euros was also seized as material evidence.


The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastër for further actions.
