A worker fell from the second floor of a building while on the job, three municipal officials arrested

Specialists from the Crime Investigation Unit of Gjirokastër Police Station arrested Pano Çako, 46, Arben Baxha, 61, and Adrian Loloçi, 58, all residents of Gjirokastër and employed as “Managers” in the Maintenance Sector of the Directorate of Community Services in the city.

Their arrest comes on charges of violating workplace safety regulations, after a 55-year-old worker, Tani Kopeci, reportedly fell accidentally from the second floor of a building while cleaning it in the “Zinxhira” neighborhood around 13:30 the previous day.

Kopeci was transported by helicopter to Tirana and is in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Adriatik Onjea, the director of public services at the Gjirokastër Municipality, has been declared wanted for failing to appear to provide explanations and to submit the necessary documentation for a full investigation of the case.
