Albania is expected to face a worsening of weather conditions in two days due to a new cyclonic system strengthening over central Italy, which will gradually affect the entire Balkans.
“A cyclonic center has been positioned for several days over southern Italy, mainly Sicily, but generally over southern Italy. This cyclonic system is weakening and moving southeast, heading toward the southern Balkans. However, there is a shift and deviation that is directing part of it toward Greece. The storm in the past days does not affect us, but another cyclonic storm is intensifying over the western Mediterranean. This cyclonic center will affect us as well, mostly the Balkans, producing rainfall of at least medium intensity across the Albanian territory,” said meteorologist Tanja Porja on “Dita Jonë.”
According to her, the country is currently experiencing relatively stable conditions, with light and localized rainfall, while temperatures have risen, reaching up to 15 degrees Celsius in the southwestern areas.
However, this situation will change over the weekend, mainly on Sunday and Monday, when the cyclonic system will bring moderate rainfall across the entire territory.
“Until Sunday, rainfall will be very light and local, affecting only a few areas, while this cyclonic center brings a powerful system with cloud cover for the entire Balkans. In some areas of the Balkans, it will bring rain, while in inland areas it will bring snow. In Albanian territory, it will mainly bring rain, with some snow as well, since temperatures will not fluctuate much at the minimum values. They will remain around zero or slightly below, meaning snow will occur only in deep mountainous areas. Most regions will experience rainfall,” she added.
