For three days in critical condition at the hospital after being poisoned with Valium by their son-in-law, the elderly couple from Librazhd has now returned home.

While Muharrem Bitroshi is still unable to get out of bed, his wife, Merushe Bitroshi in a more stable condition told Top Channel how the son-in-law poured Valium into their lemonade, knowing they had just collected their pension.

“I went and collected my pension, three months at once. The son-in-law came, that’s all I remember ‘drink this,’ he told me. When I got to the hospital, I had no money at all; he had taken it,” Merushe Bitroshi said.

It was their son, Jetmir Bitroshi, together with his wife, who fortunately returned from Greece that same day and found the parents in serious condition.

“We found them lying down. The ambulance came and took them to Tirana. If we hadn’t come home, they might not have survived,” Jetmir Bitroshi recounted.

Police arrested 36-year-old Ismail Kllogjeri, who gave the elderly couple a large dose of Valium, causing their intoxication, and then stole their pension. This was not the first time the Bitroshi family had problems with the son-in-law due to his violent behavior.
