A few days ago, joyful news came from the “Koço Gliozheni” University Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in Tirana, where a mother gave birth to quadruplets. Gynecologist Nderim Horeshka, who closely monitored the case, also commented on the event.
In a Facebook post, Horeshka stated that it was a high-risk pregnancy and shared that the quadruplets were born prematurely on August 8.
The doctor added that the mother, Rozeta, took on the risk and refused to terminate the lives of two of the babies in her womb.
He further noted that this successful outcome was a result of the collective efforts of the entire “Koço Gliozheni” University Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital.

Today was a long and exhausting workday for me with a difficult surgery, but also an extremely special day.
A wonderful couple, Roza and Aldo, surprised me and took away the fatigue from the operation.
They are the parents of the quadruplets born in our hospital on August 8, prematurely. It was a high-risk pregnancy. From the very beginning, when the quadruplets were diagnosed early in the pregnancy, we had a long discussion about the possible risks and complications, both for the mother and the babies.
They were even offered a fetal reduction (terminating the development of two of the babies in the mother’s womb). Roza refused this intervention and decided to continue the pregnancy, taking on the very high risk for herself and the babies.
The couple asked me what I thought. I told them that, in principle, I am against abortion, but the decision is theirs. Roza said, “Dr. Nderim, we have decided to keep all four babies. May God grant me the strength, and I hope you will help me bring them into the world and raise them. I want you to follow this pregnancy with me.”
It was also a challenge for me because it was a high-risk pregnancy. Roza was hospitalized at 21–22 weeks at SUOGJ “Koço Gliozheni” and remained under care until today.
Today, Roza and Aldo left the hospital extremely happy with their four babies—three boys and one girl. They waited for 2.5 hours until I finished the surgery to greet me and thank me with deep gratitude for the work done.
I was deeply moved by their heartfelt words, which were touching not only for me but for the entire hospital staff.
This is truly a professional success story, thanks to all the doctors of the hospital, the nursing teams who carefully monitored her every night, and the pathology staff, especially Dr. Jonida Dautllari, who was the attending doctor and with whom we consulted daily about the condition, progress, and treatment.
Special recognition goes to the team assisting the delivery by surgery: Dr. Anika Dokle, Dr. Flori Llabani, and Dr. Kela.
But the greatest recognition goes to the Neonatology staff—the doctors and nurses—who cared for the babies from birth until today.
Thank God!
Our profession is very difficult, full of stress, anxiety, and sometimes uncertainty, because medicine is not an exact science and predictions are not always precise.
Yet this beautiful profession gives us such positive emotions that only we are fortunate enough to experience—the indescribable joy and happiness of life being born. We become part of the joy and happiness of those who become parents.
I share these very special moments of happiness together with you. Thank you to the citizens of Tirana and all of Albania for trusting us with the lives of their children, women, mothers, and sisters.
I am sharing with you photos, with prior permission from Roza and Aldo, including the early pregnancy ultrasounds, the progress, and today’s unforgettable moments.
I wish: long life, health, and luck to Roza and Aldo’s four children.
May God bless your family.
