Bar inspection uncovers betting network, young man faces charges

The services of the Pogradec Police Commissariat have referred the case materials to the Prosecution, enabling the initiation of criminal proceedings against a young local resident.

According to the official statement, during a routine inspection at a bar in Pogradec, police officers checked the mobile phone of a 28-year-old identified as R. Gj., a resident of the city. During the verification, several websites used for sports betting were found on his device—an activity prohibited by law when carried out without a license.

The materials gathered by the police were immediately forwarded to the Prosecution, which has registered criminal proceedings against the individual in question. Investigations will continue in order to fully clarify the circumstances of the case and determine the legal responsibility of the 28-year-old.

The Pogradec Police emphasize that inspections targeting illegal gambling and sports betting activities will continue with increased intensity, aiming to prevent the phenomenon and crack down on those involved.
