BREAKING NEWS / 26-year-old man from Korça arrested, caught with smuggled goods worth €45,000

The operation codenamed “Wrong Way” has been completed, striking a case of goods smuggling.


A 26-year-old man was caught in flagrante delicto and arrested on the Elbasan–Tirana road while transporting various clothing items suspected of being smuggled, with an estimated value of around €45,000.


The clothes and the van were seized.


Specialists from the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Section of the Tirana Local Police Directorate, as part of efforts to prevent, identify, and crack down on criminal activity in the field of goods smuggling, based on operational information, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed “Wrong Way.”


As a result of this operation, the citizen R.K., 26 years old, resident of Korça, was arrested.


This individual was caught in flagrante by police services on the Elbasan–Tirana road while transporting in a van 19 packages (bags) containing clothing with imitation trademarks, without accompanying documentation.


Investigations are ongoing to fully document this illegal activity and to identify other individuals who may be involved.


The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
