They organized sports betting, the Police Oversight Agency executes measures against 6 employees, including an officer at the Devoll police station.

The Police Oversight Agency (Elbasan–Korçë Region), within the framework of the operation codenamed “Last Bet” and under the direction of the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Elbasan, has executed security measures against 6 police employees and 1 citizen, suspected of organizing and facilitating illegal sports betting activities by abusing their official duties.

The imposition of security measures against Redon Tafilaku, Enea Kapllani, Denis Sinani, Aldi Molla, Gëzim Beqiraj, and Ilir Tafa was carried out within the framework of the 2025 criminal proceeding. From in-depth investigative actions, it is suspected that the above-mentioned individuals, by exploiting the attributes of their functions and in cooperation with one another, organized and facilitated the operation of illegal lotteries/sports betting, thereby fulfilling the elements of the criminal offenses “Organization or conduct of gambling activities in violation of the law” and “Abuse of office,” as provided for by Articles 197/25 and 248 of the Criminal Code.

The personal preventive measures of a restrictive nature, “Prohibition on leaving the country” and “Obligation to appear before the judicial police,” provided for by Articles 233 and 234 of the Criminal Procedure Code, were imposed on Police Commissioner Denis Sinani, Head of the Section for the Investigation of Volume Crimes at the Devoll Police Station.
