Cocaine hidden inside pasta and mussels: How the drugs were smuggled into Prison 313

During a search carried out yesterday by the General Directorate of Prisons and the Oversight Agency for the Execution of Criminal Decisions, a quantity of suspected narcotics was found at Prison 313 in Tirana.

At first glance, it is clear that these are cooked pasta, but they are not just pasta. Cocaine and hashish were hidden inside and were intended to be smuggled into the prison.

The cocaine and cannabis had allegedly been ordered by phone by an inmate, identified as O. Asllani, while the food was to be delivered by his relative, A. Xhamet, who was arrested for attempting to bring prohibited items into the prison.

The investigation had begun 15 days earlier, following the recording of a conversation involving the inmate, who appeared pleased about special food that was going to be brought to his cell.

The operation yesterday resulted in the seizure of 12 suspected doses of cocaine and 17 suspected doses of cannabis sativa.
