A tragic event has shaken the city of Perugia and the Albanian community in Italy. Hekuran Cumani, 23, of Albanian origin and resident of Fabriano in Ancona, was fatally stabbed early Saturday morning in a parking lot near the University of Perugia.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the incident has been classified as intentional homicide, occurring after a conflict over minor reasons. The victim was stabbed in the throat and chest, dying on the spot despite the rapid arrival of an ambulance and first aid.

Hekuran Cumani had gone to Perugia to have fun with friends. The debate that turned fatal began outside the popular venue “110 Caffè,” near the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University. The verbal conflict escalated into a physical altercation, and one of the people involved, still unidentified, stabbed him to death.

Friends describe Hekuran as a calm, loving young man passionate about the gym and a healthy lifestyle. “He was a good friend, very family-oriented, and loved animals,” one of them told the Italian media.

Police are reviewing security camera footage and questioning witnesses present at the scene to identify the perpetrator of the crime.

The incident has also drawn a strong reaction from local authorities. In a joint statement, the mayor and the city council of Perugia expressed condolences to the family, calling the murder a “tragedy that has shaken the entire city.”
