Domestic violence and drunk drivers / Police report 24-hour summary

Over the last 24 hours, the State Police has carried out a series of nationwide operations focused on combating illegal activities, including gambling, cultivation of narcotic plants, domestic violence cases, and traffic violations.

In the field of narcotics, 5 cases were identified involving 9 suspects. Of these, 1 person was arrested, 7 were prosecuted while free, and 1 was declared wanted. During the checks, a significant number of narcotic plants and seedlings were destroyed, along with a small quantity of cannabis being seized.

Regarding crimes against the person, 5 cases were registered involving 11 individuals prosecuted while free. A serious case of suicide was also reported, where a 19-year-old woman is suspected to have ended her life by jumping from the fifth floor of a building in Durrës.

In the area of domestic violence, 6 cases were identified with 8 perpetrators involved, of whom 4 were arrested and 4 were prosecuted while free. In addition, 5 protection orders were requested for victims.

For property crimes, 4 cases were recorded, with 7 people prosecuted and 3 declared wanted. Police also cracked down on illegal gambling, arresting 1 person and seizing equipment used for poker.

In the economic-financial and environmental crime sector, a total of 9 cases were identified, with individuals prosecuted while free. Additionally, 3 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or without a driving license, while 4 others were prosecuted for traffic violations.

During this period, 5 road accidents were recorded, one of which was fatal and four resulted in injuries not life-threatening. Furthermore, 3 people were arrested for resisting police officers and property damage, while 18 others were prosecuted for various criminal offenses.

Border Police also prosecuted 3 individuals for illegal border crossing.

In conclusion, the State Police has called for respect of the law and traffic rules, urging drivers to avoid speeding, mobile phone use while driving, and driving under the influence, in order to ensure road safety and protect citizens’ lives.
