A phishing campaign is currently circulating on the WhatsApp platform, where users receive messages presented as a request to vote for the first prize of a free scholarship.
These messages, which can come from known contacts, aim to deceive users and take control of their accounts by directing them to fake websites and asking for verification codes, which are then used to steal the accounts.
To avoid falling victim to this scam, users are advised to:
Not click on suspicious links, even if they come from known contacts.
Not share verification codes, passwords, or personal information.
Enable two-step verification on WhatsApp.
Report any suspicious cases immediately.
Users should be especially cautious of messages offering prizes, voting requests, or instant benefits.
