Drunk at the wheel, tried to bribe the police to avoid a fine, 47-year-old arrested

On Monday, police arrested a 47-year-old man who was driving dangerously while intoxicated. It was also reported that during the stop, the man attempted to bribe the officers to avoid a fine.
According to police reports, the individual, identified as A. B., resident of Durrës, was caught in the act and charged with “Active corruption of public officials” and “Driving vehicles improperly.”
“During patrols aimed at preventing accidents and punishing traffic violations, the Durrës Road Police signaled a vehicle for stopping after observing the driver performing dangerous maneuvers on Hysen Kërtusha Street.
Alcohol testing confirmed that the driver was under the influence.
To avoid legal sanctions, the driver, A. B., offered money to the police officers in an attempt to prevent the alcohol test,” the police statement reads.
The procedural materials have been forwarded to the Durrës Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
