Donald Trump has vowed to crack down on illegal immigration, and work has already begun. Workers have gathered a series of buoys in the Rio Grande, which forms the border between Texas and Mexico, to block migrants crossing the river into the U.S.

Trump has reinstated a program that will require asylum seekers to wait in Mexico until their cases are heard in the U.S.

On the first day of his second term, he declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border and suggested plans to change the definition of birthright citizenship.

Currently, anyone born in the U.S. is considered a citizen, regardless of their parents’ immigration status. However, Trump seems to be seeking a change so that children of undocumented migrants would no longer acquire citizenship.

He has also signed a declaration granting authorities the power to “repel, repatriate, and remove” migrants.
