Found dead in his home, Police: The murder of the 78-year-old in Korçë was intentional, here is the main lead under investigation

Korçë Police continue investigations into the murder of 78-year-old Gëzim Vija, who was found lifeless in his private home in the village of Bulgarec. No suspect has yet been identified in connection with this serious incident.

According to sources from the investigative team, the main line of inquiry remains robbery. Preliminary forensic examination has revealed that the elderly man had signs of violence on his body, including blows to the head and other parts, which are suspected to have led to his death.

Police have questioned the victim’s family members about possible individuals who may have had conflicts or motives against him.

Residents of the village and other people known to the 78-year-old have also been interviewed, in an effort to shed light on the circumstances of the incident.

One element being verified by investigators is the fact that a day before the incident, the external lighting cable of the victim’s home had been cut, raising suspicions of a deliberate act in preparation for the crime.

At the scene, it was found that the elderly man’s wallet had been left on the table, but without any money inside, reinforcing suspicions of robbery.

Sources indicate that the 78-year-old lived alone and relied mainly on his pension, with no other sources of income.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrator or perpetrators, while police continue working to collect evidence and fully document the case.
