Former Albania national team coach Gianni De Biasi may be close to a sensational return to Albanian football, this time as the head coach of Flamurtari Vlorë. The news, which has circulated in several sports media outlets, comes as a big surprise ahead of the new season in the Albanian Superliga, adding a new level of prestige and interest to the competition.

De Biasi, the coach who led Albania to their historic participation in Euro 2016, still enjoys extraordinary respect among the Albanian public and football community. His return to an Albanian club would not only be major news for the league but also a sign that Flamurtari aims to make a strong comeback to the elite after difficult years in the lower tiers of Albanian football.

Sources close to the Vlora club have not officially confirmed the agreement yet, but negotiations are said to be in an advanced stage. Flamurtari’s ambitious project, which includes new investments and restoring the club’s identity as a major name in Albanian football, could be one of the reasons attracting the Italian coach to this new challenge.

If the agreement is finalized, De Biasi will become the most prominent coach in the Albanian championship, and with his international experience, he is expected to bring a fresh spirit, both tactically and in team management.

This return would mark another chapter in the special relationship the Italian has built with Albania, evolving from a symbol of a historic national team to a figure helping to revive a legendary club like Flamurtari.

While awaiting official confirmation, Vlora fans have already started dreaming: will De Biasi be the one to bring Flamurtari back to where it belongs at the top of Albanian football.
