The Police Oversight Agency (AMP) has arrested a police officer on corruption charges. The arrest was made in flagrante delicto following special investigative measures, which proved that the officer, abusing his official position, demanded and received 60,000 lek from citizen E.S. (seized as material evidence) in exchange for removing the vehicle from the impound lot and not issuing an administrative penalty.

The Police Oversight Agency (Durrës–Kavajë Region), in cooperation with the Special Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Prosecution (SPAK), arrested in flagrante G. H., a police officer assigned to the Urban and Interurban Traffic Service at Durrës Police Directorate, suspected of committing the criminal offense of “Passive corruption by persons exercising public functions” under Article 259 of the Penal Code.
The arrest followed special investigative measures, which confirmed that the officer, abusing his official function in violation of the law, demanded and received 60,000 lek from citizen E.S. (seized as evidence) in exchange for removing the vehicle from the impound lot and refraining from imposing an administrative measure.
Investigations are ongoing in cooperation with SPAC to determine the possible involvement of other individuals in this criminal activity.
