He stole vehicle license plates and sold them to individuals with criminal records to carry out crimes; a 36-year-old has been arrested

The Durrës Police have arrested the suspected perpetrator of thefts of Albanian and Kosovar vehicle license plates, which he is believed to have sold to individuals with criminal records to be used in crimes against persons and property. As part of the police operation codenamed “Plates,” citizen E. Q., 36 years old, from Kosovo, was arrested, suspected of several cases of license plate theft in the coastal city.

Police say the 36-year-old was caught in flagrante in neighborhood no. 13, Plazh–Durrës, while driving a “Ford” vehicle fitted with license plates previously stolen in neighborhood no. 5, Durrës, belonging to citizen R. C.

During a search of the vehicle, two license plates from a vehicle registered in Kosovo were found in the trunk, while various tools were seized from the driver’s seat area, including screwdrivers, pliers, a knife, a pair of gloves, and a hood similar to a mask, which are suspected to have been used to commit thefts.

He was stealing Albanian and Kosovar vehicle license plates in Durrës and is suspected of selling them to individuals with criminal records to carry out crimes against persons and property; the suspected perpetrator has been identified, caught, and arrested.

The 36-year-old from Kosovo is suspected of being the author of several cases of vehicle license plate theft.

Two sets of license plates, Albanian and Kosovar, as well as screwdrivers, pliers, a knife, a pair of gloves, and a mask were seized.

Services of the Durrës Police Commissariat, as part of consecutive operations to solve previously committed thefts and based on information obtained through operational channels, finalized the police operation codenamed “Plates.”

Within the framework of the operation, citizen E. Q., 36 years old, from Kosovo, was caught and placed under arrest.

This individual was caught in flagrante in neighborhood no. 13, Plazh–Durrës, driving a “Ford” vehicle with license plates stolen in neighborhood no. 5, Durrës, owned by citizen R. C.

During the search of the “Ford” vehicle, two license plates from a vehicle registered in Kosovo were found in the trunk, and screwdrivers, pliers, a knife, a pair of gloves, and a hood (similar to masks) were found on the driver’s seat.

These items are suspected to have been used by this individual to carry out thefts.

The above items were seized as material evidence.

Furthermore, investigative actions have shown that this individual is also the author of license plate thefts from two other vehicles that occurred in recent months.

In cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office, work is continuing to fully document the criminal activity of this individual.

The materials will be referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Durrës for the criminal offenses of “Theft” and “Providing means for theft.”
