Government approves year-end bonus for pensioners

The Council of Ministers approved in yesterday’s meeting the decision for the year-end holiday bonus for pensioners for 2025.
According to this decision, 762,740 pensioners and other beneficiaries will receive the planned bonus, of whom 640,325 are old-age pensioners and 2,322 receive a social pension, 65,232 are disability pensioners, 48,087 receive a family pension, and 6,774 people receive a special financial treatment such as underground miners, employees of former military enterprises, and military personnel on early retirement.
The decision provides for a financial bonus according to categories:
An amount of 15,000 (fifteen thousand) lek for around 540,959 people, of whom 421,514 are old-age pensions, 2,322 social pensions, 3,715 early-retirement pensions for years of service, pensions for the children of the republic, veterans of the National Liberation War, special treatments for miners and the military industry, and special pensions. Also included are 65,232 work-disability beneficiaries and 48,087 family-pension beneficiaries.
The beneficiary categories are as follows:
a) Individuals who receive an old-age pension up to the amount of 20,000 lek, including this amount.
b) Individuals who receive a disability pension, a family pension, or a social pension.
c) Individuals who do not receive a pension, but benefit only from financial assistance, such as children under the care of the Republic.
d) Individuals who do not receive a pension, but benefit only from special financial treatment.
e) Individuals who do not receive a pension, but benefit under “Special treatment for the families of pilots who lose their lives in the line of duty during flight.”
f) Individuals who do not receive a pension, but receive only financial compensation as veterans of the National Liberation War, as well as individuals who receive only a special pension for special merits.
g) Individuals who receive early-retirement pensions for years of service, up to the amount of 20,000 lek, and who are not employed at the time this decision enters into force.
h) Individuals who receive pensions up to the amount of 20,000 lek, for pensions of workers who have worked in underground mines.
i) Individuals who receive special financial treatment, up to the amount of 20,000 lek, for special treatment of workers who have worked in underground mines.
j) Individuals who receive special financial treatment, up to the amount of 20,000 lek, for special treatment of workers who have worked in certain enterprises of the military industry.
k) Individuals who receive a pension due to difficult professions, up to the amount of 20,000 lek, for supplementary financial treatment of workers who have worked in underground mines, workers in the oil and gas industry, and workers in metallurgy.
An amount of 10,000 lek will be given to around 221,781 individuals. Among these, 218,811 are old-age pensions and only about 2,970 are beneficiaries from other categories.
The beneficiary categories are as follows:
a) Individuals who receive an old-age pension with a pension amount above 20,000 lek.
b) Individuals who receive special financial treatment, above the pension amount of 20,000 lek, for special treatment of workers who have worked in certain enterprises of the military industry.
c) Individuals who receive a pension with an amount above 20,000 lek, for pensions of workers who have worked in underground mines.
d) Individuals who receive special financial treatment for workers who have worked in underground mines, with a benefit amount above 20,000 lek.
e) Individuals who receive an early-retirement pension for years of service, with a benefit amount above 20,000 lek.
f) Individuals who do not receive a pension but receive only a designated state special pension.
g) Individuals who do not receive a pension but receive a designated supplementary pension, for the supplementary state pensions of persons who hold constitutional functions and state employees.
h) Individuals who receive a pension due to difficult professions, for supplementary financial treatment of workers who have worked in underground mines, in the oil and gas industry, and in metallurgy, with a benefit amount above 20,000 lek.
According to this decision, the bonus will be paid during December 2025, and if it is not withdrawn within this month, it may be withdrawn until June 30, 2026. After this date, the bonus expires and cannot be claimed.
The implementation of this decision will be carried out by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the Ministry of Finance, the Social Insurance Institute, and the Albanian Post.
