He killed his son after a trivial conflict, Prosecution sends the 74-year-old to trial / How the incident happened!

After completing the investigations, the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office has sent to trial the 74-year-old Hekuran Gjoni, who killed his 37-year-old son, Asim Gjoni, with a bread knife in February of this year.

The Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Tirana, has completed the investigation and is sending to trial citizen H.Gj. for “Murder due to family relations” as provided by Article 70/c of the Criminal Code.

At the conclusion of the investigation into criminal proceeding no. 796 of 2025, it resulted that on 01.02.2025, citizen H.Gj., for trivial motives, argued and got into a conflict with his son A.Gj., and during the conflict struck him with a cutting tool. As a result of the wound received on the left side of the abdomen, he died.

When questioned as a suspect under investigation, citizen H.Gj. explained that on that day, when he sat down to eat, his son also sat and began provoking him verbally. He felt bad, became irritated, and at one moment slapped him in the face. Afterwards, according to him, his son A.Gj. grabbed him by the clothes and told him not to hit him. At that moment, the daughter intervened and told him “why are you behaving like this with your father?”, and the son pushed her forcefully, causing her to fall to the ground. At that moment, he became very upset, grabbed the bread knife that was on the table, and stabbed his son once in the abdomen (side).

From the investigation, it resulted that on the victim’s body, from the external and internal examination, a penetrating cutting stab wound was found on the left side of the chest, accompanied by a tear to the left lung, the left side of the heart’s protective membrane, as well as cutting wounds on the fingers of both hands. The cause of death of citizen A.Gj. was severe traumatic hemorrhagic shock.

From all of the above, it is concluded that the person under investigation, citizen H.Gj., committed the criminal offense “Murder due to family relations,” provided by Article 79/c of the Criminal Code, to the detriment of his late son A.Gj.
