“He looked me in the eyes and could only say ‘ugh’,” neighbors recount the 65-year-old’s final moments

The victim’s neighbors have recounted his final moments, saying that shortly before the incident he had spoken with them normally and was carrying out his daily chores at home.

One of the neighbors said she had seen him that morning and that he told her he was going to Korçë. He later returned home and started working.

“He came here, checked on the rabbits, and then went to get the wheelbarrow, I don’t know what he was going to do. We were shocked when we heard people shouting. We came and found him already gone. The ambulance arrived after half an hour,” she recalled.

Another resident remembered her last conversation with the 65-year-old, just moments before the accident.

“He told me that the rabbits had grown. He asked me for a small pot to plant basil. He said that when he returned from Korçë, he would also fill my gas cylinder. I never thought this would happen,” the neighbor said.

She also described the dramatic moments when she went to help him.

“When I went there, I called out ‘Kiço, Kiço’. I poured water on him, but he didn’t come to his senses at all. He looked me in the eyes and could only say ‘ugh’. I called other people because I couldn’t lift him out of fear. His body was covered in blood,” she said emotionally.

According to local residents, Kristaq Çulaku lived alone. His two sons are in London, while his wife lives in Greece.

Police are continuing investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident, while the incident has shocked the family, neighbors, and the entire community.
