A serious accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on “Ismail Qemali” Boulevard in Vlora, where 17-year-old Leandro Shametaj lost his life.

He was returning home from work, where he worked as a waiter, when he was fatally struck by a Porsche that is suspected to have been traveling at around 200 km/h. The driver is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.

The grandfather of the 17-year-old stated that the car that hit him was going 200 km/h. He explained that the family had been waiting for eight hours at the Vlora morgue, adding that neither the forensic doctor nor the prosecutor had proceeded with their duties.

“My daughter’s son was hit by a car — I’m his grandfather. The accident happened last night at 1 a.m. We came to the Vlora morgue, and we’ve been here for eight hours. The forensic doctor hasn’t come to do his job. The state is turning its back on us. Neither the prosecutor nor the forensic doctor has shown up.

There are 30 police officers here, and no one is taking action. A car killed our boy on the main boulevard, driving at 200 km/h. No police patrol stopped it. They won’t even let me see my grandson, he wasn’t a criminal,” said the grandfather of the 17-year-old.
