A case of goods smuggling near Kamzë was intercepted this Saturday by the Tirana Police. As a result of the operation, a 26-year-old man was arrested in flagrante, while two of his accomplices have been declared wanted.
Specialists from the Section for the Investigation of Money Laundering and Criminal Assets, based on information obtained through operational channels, organized the operation during which they stopped a vehicle driven by the citizen E.K.
During the vehicle search, police found approximately 524 grams of gold hidden in the car battery. In addition, the vehicle was seized along with various clothing items, packs of cigarettes, two sewing machines, a sum of money, and other suspected smuggled items and equipment.
At the conclusion of procedural actions, E.K., 26 years old, was arrested in flagrante, while F.K. and M.G. were declared wanted.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the three individuals illegally brought the goods into the territory of the Republic of Albania.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
