The well-known singer Afërdita Zonja shared personal and professional details from her life, discussing her experiences between Albania and the U.S., as well as how she met her husband.
Guest on the show *E Diell*, in the segment “Galeri,” she revealed that her love story with her husband Artur Zonja began back in high school.
“We were very close friends and didn’t even realize when we became a couple,” the singer said, adding that they have built a happy life together and are parents to two children.
The artist also shared memories from her childhood in Korçë, talking about her family’s sacrifices and her mother’s strength, who raised five children alone. She emphasized that these challenges made her more conscious and committed in her own journey.
Afërdita Zonja also spoke about her early start in music at the age of 15, noting that she was among the first artists to hold a recital. Later, she returned as a teacher at the music school where she had studied. Among her first students was Eli Fara.
Regarding her life in the U.S., she said that after the 1990s she traveled frequently for concerts, and the decision to move came later after winning the American lottery with her family.
“We saw America as the land of opportunity. At first, we went back and forth because of work, but after retiring we decided to live there,” she said, adding that for many people from Korçë, the U.S. remains a preferred destination.
