Injured at the workplace, the municipal worker dies at the Trauma Hospital

The employee of the Community Services Enterprise in Gjirokastër, identified by the initials D.K., 55 years old, has died at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana after being seriously injured in a workplace accident.

The serious incident occurred on March 3 in the “Zinxhira” neighborhood in the city of Gjirokastër, where the worker fell from the second floor of a private building while carrying out cleaning work on the property, which had been seized by a bank.

As a result of the fall, he suffered severe injuries and was transported by helicopter to the Trauma Hospital, where he was unable to survive his wounds.

In connection with the incident, the State Police arrested three people accused of the criminal offense “violation of workplace safety rules.” Meanwhile, the head of the institution, citizen Adriatik Onjea, is accused of the criminal offense “abuse of office.” According to sources, immediately after the incident he left for the neighboring country Greece and has been declared wanted by the authorities.

The court has ordered the security measure “arrest in prison” for two technical supervisors, citizens P.C. and A.B., while for citizen A.L., who held the position of brigadier, the measure “house arrest” has been imposed.

Investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
