INSTAT releases the figures: Prices increased by 2.3% in January

Consumer prices in January recorded an increase of 2.3% compared to the same month last year, according to data published by INSTAT
In January 2026, the inflation rate reached 2.3%, up from 1.9% in January of the previous year. Compared to December 2025, consumer prices increased by 0.4%
The largest price increases came from several spending groups. The “recreation, sports, and culture” group saw a 4.9% rise, followed by “rent, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels” and “insurance and financial services,” each increasing by 4.4%
The “alcoholic beverages and tobacco” group also recorded a significant increase of 2.7%. Meanwhile, “furniture, household appliances, and home maintenance” and “restaurants and accommodation services” increased by 2% and 2.4% respectively
On the other hand, some groups saw price decreases, such as “clothing and footwear,” which fell by 0.5%
