Iranian state media has reported that the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, has been killed.

This comes after Donald Trump announced earlier in the evening on his Truth Social network the death of Khamenei.

According to state media, Iran will observe 40 days of public mourning following his killing, which is believed to have occurred in his office in the early hours of Saturday.

At least four buildings in the Supreme Leader’s compound in central Tehran were struck yesterday as part of the broader U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran.

Just a few hours earlier, a source from Iranian state media, close to Khamenei’s office, had stated: “I can tell you with confidence that the Leader of the Revolution is steadfast and firmly in control of the situation.”
