Just days after assuming her new position, Minister Albana Koçiu took decisive and immediate action by proposing the dismissal of Deputy Minister Andi Mahila.

According to official sources, the decision came following a citizen’s complaint documenting a violation of the anti-smoking law by the deputy minister. Specifically, Mahila was caught smoking in an indoor space, contrary to current legislation that prohibits smoking in public or institutional indoor areas.

Deputy Minister Mahila had held this position for several consecutive years, but Minister Koçiu made it clear that adherence to the law will be uncompromising, regardless of an individual’s role or position.

This is the new Minister’s first official decision since her swearing-in at the Presidency and signals a determined approach to enforcing rules and institutional responsibility.

Sources within the ministry have indicated that similar violations will not be tolerated by anyone within the Ministry of Interior or its subordinate institutions.
