The well-known journalist from Korçë Radio Television, Kostanca Koçi, has been elected chairwoman of the Albanian Journalists’ Union (UGSH) branch for the southeastern region, bringing a new approach of cooperation and representation for media workers in the area.

At the election meeting, attended by journalists from the region and representatives of the UGSH central structures, journalist Xhensil Shkëmbi was also chosen as coordinator of the branch, along with a leadership board of three members who will be part of the organization’s regional governing structure.

Also present at the meeting was the head of the Albanian Journalists’ Union, journalist and analyst Aleksandër Çipa, who emphasized the importance of this regional reorganization. He highlighted the challenging situation of the media in the country, especially regarding social conditions and journalists’ rights, calling the ongoing lack of solutions for vital issues such as salaries and social insurance a scandal.

Çipa expressed support for the new structures and stressed the importance of regional and international networking among journalists as a way to increase their professional influence and protection.

Kostanca Koçi, with long and successful experience in audiovisual media, has been recognized by her colleagues as a figure of integrity, dedication, and strong representation skills. She was unanimously elected by the participants, receiving full support to lead the KJU (The Korçë Journalists’ Union) branch at a critical moment for local media.

Her election is seen as a positive step toward strengthening the role of the Journalists’ Union in the Korçë region, focusing on protecting journalists’ rights, improving working conditions, and promoting professional ethics.
