Nationwide police operation “Public Spaces”


133 cases with 10 arrests and 123 individuals under investigation for illegal occupation of public areas, used unlawfully as parking lots or car washes.


45 drivers under criminal investigation for improper parking that obstructed the free movement of vehicles, pedestrians, or emergency services.


For the past 24 hours, across the entire country, the structures of the State Police have continued the police operation codenamed “Public Spaces.”


The operation to clear public areas involves the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Units of the Local Police Directorates, General Patrols, and the “Eagle” Forces, in cooperation with the respective Municipal Police units.


The goal of this action is to free public spaces and penalize individuals who have illegally occupied them, exploiting them as parking areas or car washes for unlawful financial gain.


At the same time, the Traffic Police and public order units are intensifying checks and sanctions for improper parking that blocks normal traffic flow and emergency vehicle access.


During the last 24 hours nationwide, authorities identified and acted on:

133 cases of unlawful use of public/private spaces for economic activities (mainly unregistered parking or car wash operations). These entities earned undeclared income and failed to issue tax receipts.


Specifically:


78 cases in Tirana with 10 arrests and 68 individuals under investigation;

16 cases in Shkodër with 16 individuals under investigation;

11 cases in Lezhë with 11 under investigation;

6 cases in Korçë with 6 under investigation;

6 cases in Fier and Lushnjë with 6 under investigation;

4 cases in Vlorë and Sarandë with 4 under investigation;

4 cases in Dibër with 4 under investigation;

3 cases in Elbasan with 3 under investigation;

2 cases in Berat with 2 under investigation;

2 cases in Durrës with 2 under investigation;

and 1 case in Gjirokastër with 1 individual under investigation.


Additionally, 45 cases of improper parking were identified, obstructing free movement of vehicles or pedestrians, including: 37 in Tirana, 3 in Elbasan, 2 in Fier, 2 in Kukës, and 1 in Durrës.


Furthermore, 3 cases of illegal employment were discovered.


The crackdown on the occupation of public spaces and informality will continue intensively across all regions of the country.


Procedural materials have been referred to the respective district prosecutor’s offices for further action.


The State Police urges citizens and drivers not to infringe on the public’s right to shared spaces and to strictly comply with tax and traffic laws.


Any act in violation of current laws will be penalized.


The Police also invite citizens to report any unlawful activity they observe, contributing to the maintenance of order, public safety, and the enforcement of the law.
