Literary evening dedicated to Sterjo Spasse / 111th birth anniversary

In a warm and emotional atmosphere, Gollomboci became yesterday the gathering place for literature lovers, scholars, and friends to honor one of the most prominent figures of our culture – the writer Sterjo Spasse, the pride of Prespa and an immortal name in Albanian literature.

This anniversary was made even more special by the presence of his grandson, Arjan Spasse, who not only honored the audience with his participation but also brought vivid memories from his grandfather’s life and valuable insights into his work. He shared with the audience a rare material – an interview given by Sterjo Spasse himself about half a century ago, a document that opens new perspectives for scholars studying his legacy.

We thank all the guests: Lecturer and scholar Dr. Maria Dojce, who offered a rich perspective on Spasse’s life and work as a bridge between cultures and identities; the President of the “Sonce” Association, Vasil Sterjovski; the writers of the “Bota e Re” Writers’ League; and journalists Eftim Mitrevski, Jorgjeta Gjanci, and Erjona Pambuku, who shared heartfelt reflections on his literary legacy and its generational impact.

A highlight of the evening was the masterful performance by actor Kristian Koroveshi, who brought to life unforgettable excerpts from the novel Why?, the masterpiece that secured Spasse’s undisputed place in the history of Albanian literature.

The Mayor of Pustec, Pali Kolefski, assured that this event will become an annual tradition, keeping alive the memory and honoring the figure of our great writer.

Sterjo Spasse is not just an outstanding author – he is an inspiration, reminding us that literature has the power to unite, enrich, and make us proud of our roots.
