Maliq / Police operation codenamed “Sovjani” finalized

A 30-year-old man was caught and arrested after circulating in a vehicle armed with an automatic firearm and possessing an unlicensed hunting weapon at his home.

One automatic firearm, a single-barrel hunting rifle, ammunition, and a vehicle were seized.

As part of ongoing efforts to gather intelligence and crack down on illegal possession of weapons, the services of the Maliq Police Commissariat, based on obtained information that a citizen was moving around armed, organized and carried out the police operation codenamed “Sovjani.”

As a result of the operation, in the village of Sovjan, Maliq, police services identified a vehicle on a road between agricultural plots, in which the armed suspect was believed to be traveling, and stopped it for inspection.

During the search of the vehicle, police found one automatic firearm.

Additionally, during a search of his residence, a single-barrel hunting weapon and a small quantity of ammunition were found.

The illegal items, along with the vehicle, were seized as material evidence.

At the conclusion of procedural actions, citizen B. B., 30 years old, resident of the village of Sovjan, Maliq, was arrested in flagrante for the criminal offenses of “Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition” and “Illegal production and possession of hunting and sporting weapons.”

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecution Office in Korçë for further actions.
