More than 1,000 immigrants crossed the English Channel this year

More than 1,000 immigrants have been discovered crossing the English Channel in small boats in 2025. According to data from the UK Home Office, the figures showed 129 more people crossed yesterday via the Channel in small boats, bringing the total number for this year to 1,019. The immigrants made their journey in a total of 18 small boats.

The UK also reported that the daily record for this year was on January 13, when immigrants were discovered in the English Channel. The first crossing was reported on January 4, with 61 immigrants arriving in the UK.

The number of immigrants arriving in the UK via the English Channel increased by 25% in 2024 compared to the previous year. A total of 36,816 people made the dangerous journey in small boats in 2024, compared to 29,437 in 2023.
