NAME / 32-year-old who fired a gun into the air after losing betting slips, “keeps his mouth shut” in front of investigators

New details have been revealed regarding the incident recorded in the Ali Demi area of Tirana, where a person fired a firearm into the air.

The suspected perpetrator has been identified as 32-year-old Amarild Xhamaqi, a name known to the police and previously flagged for various conflicts.

The incident is reported to have occurred after the 32-year-old became irritated due to losing some sports betting slips. While driving his vehicle in the Ali Demi area, he allegedly opened the car window and fired several shots into the air with a firearm.

After receiving the report and carrying out operational actions, police managed to locate the young man and arrest him in flagrante delicto while he was still driving in the same area.

He reportedly refused to give detailed explanations to police investigators.

During the intervention, the firearm allegedly used in the incident was also seized.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the gunfire. Investigations are ongoing to fully document the circumstances of the case and verify all actions taken by the arrested individual.
