NAMES/ Eight people arrested for exploiting children for begging

Eight people have been arrested by the Police in Tirana for allegedly exploiting their minor children to work and beg.

According to the police, for four of them, Eles Brahimaj, 41; Rakip Sinani, 35; Mikel Rama, 35; and Miklovan Gogaj, 34 the Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the security measure of “pre-trial detention.”

Meanwhile, the individuals with initials L. B., 35; A. M., 41; M. S., 35; and A. Sh., 35, have been placed under “house arrest” by the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigations have revealed that these individuals, both individually and in collaboration, exploited their children aged 9–11 to work mainly during the night as well as to beg in various areas.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further action regarding the criminal offense of “Mistreatment of a minor.”
