NAMES / Two traffickers arrested, allegedly supplying drugs to several areas
Tirana / Controls and operations targeting the criminal activity of drug supply and distribution have been intensified.
The third phase of the police operation codenamed “Zones” has been successfully completed.
Another case involving the supply and distribution of hard narcotics has been uncovered.
More than 1 kilogram of heroin was seized. Two individuals, Gezim Muhameti and Zhuljan Prençi, were arrested.
As part of ongoing operations aimed at combating drug-related criminal activities and preventing the distribution of narcotics in the capital, the Narcotics Investigation Section successfully carried out the third phase of Operation “Zones,” striking another case of hard-drug trafficking.
As a result of this phase, G.M., 51, a resident of Tirana, and Zh.P., 35, a resident of Gjirokastër, were caught and arrested in flagrante delicto.
Based on operational intelligence and following a well-organized investigation, police services located and stopped the vehicle in which the suspects were traveling on “Prokop Mima” Street.
During the search of the vehicle and the suspects, officers found and seized 1 kilogram and 71 grams of suspected heroin as material evidence.
Investigative actions indicate that the suspects intended to supply other individuals with the narcotics for distribution in smaller quantities across various areas of the capital, primarily in the Tirana e Re district.
In cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office, investigations are continuing to fully document this criminal activity and identify and apprehend other individuals involved.
During the first and second phases of Operation “Zones,” more than 1 kilogram of suspected cocaine was seized, and two individuals found in possession of it were arrested.
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
