Operation “Qarku” strikes again: 4 cases of illegality in Korçë and Maliq

Checks are continuing across the entire territory of the Korçë district as part of the police operation codenamed “Qarku”, aimed at identifying and cracking down on illegal gambling activities and informality.

During the latest inspections, police uncovered four more cases of such illegal activities in the municipalities of Maliq and Korçë, initiating criminal proceedings against four individuals.

Specialists of the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Unit referred the materials to the Prosecution and launched criminal proceedings against citizens R. B., 23 years old, and A. H., 43 years old, residents of Maliq.

Inspections carried out at their premises, in the town of Maliq and the village of Libonik, revealed that these individuals were operating without being registered with the tax authorities and without possessing a fiscal cash register for issuing tax receipts.

Meanwhile, services of the Korçë Police Commissariat referred materials to the Prosecution against citizen E. M., 36 years old, resident of Korçë, after checks at his premises showed that he had illegally employed a worker who was not registered with the tax authorities.

At the same time, services of the Maliq Police Commissariat initiated criminal proceedings against citizen R. P., 39 years old, resident of the village of Podgorie, Maliq. During an inspection of his mobile phone, active sports betting pages were found, and the phone was seized as material evidence.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecution at the Korçë Court of First Instance for further legal action.
