A commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that Iran has no “trust” in negotiations with the United States. As Pakistan prepares to host a second round of talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad, General Seyyed Majid Mousavi stated that any threat against Tehran would be met with a “strong and decisive” response.

“Wherever you are, we will respond forcefully whenever we choose,” he said, according to state broadcaster Press TV.

Mousavi’s comments come at a time when a US delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, is expected to arrive in Islamabad, while Iran has sent mixed signals regarding its participation.

Earlier, it was reported that Iran was reconsidering its withdrawal from the proposed second round of talks, after a senior Iranian official told Reuters that the country was “positively reviewing its participation.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan has expressed confidence that Iran will take part in the talks with the United States, a senior government official told the Reuters news agency.

“We have received a positive signal from Iran. Things are fluid, but we are trying to ensure they are here when we begin the talks tomorrow or the day after,” the official said, as the two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran is set to expire on Wednesday.
