New details have emerged in the gruesome murder of 32-year-old Rebecca Campbell, who was fatally stabbed in her home near Liverpool, during the trial of 34-year-old Michael Ormandy.

According to the prosecution, Ormandy stabbed his partner 18 times, just hours after having sexual relations with another woman. Campbell was found lying outside her home, uttering her final, tortured words: “Am I going to die?” as first responders tried to save her.

Just hours before the crime, Ormandy had sent a message to a woman he met at a pub, inviting her to a hotel. “We had cocktails and had sex. He told me he was going to his mother’s to see his children. Then we parted ways, and I went to work,” the woman testified in court. She later said he messaged her saying he needed to “sort something out,” without giving further details. She was shocked to later learn from the news that the murdered woman was the same one he had previously shown her in a photo.

The autopsy confirmed that Campbell was stabbed 18 times, with a fatal blow to the chest.

In his defense, Ormandy claimed that Campbell had attacked him with a knife when he entered the house. “She screamed, ‘I have a knife,’ and tried to stab me,” he said in court, adding that he had acted in “self-defense.”

He also blamed the authorities, saying the incident “would not have happened if they had done their job” following a previous argument the couple had a week earlier. According to him, during that argument, Campbell had thrown a shoe at him in a pub, and he struck her in the face in response.
