Heavy details have emerged from the brutal murder that shocked Pogradec two days ago. The victim, Kozeta Teço, 52, was found dead in her home, which had caught fire. However, the fire was not accidental: investigations revealed that she was brutally murdered before the house was set ablaze.
The main suspect is Ilirjan Selmani, who had an intimate relationship with the victim. According to ongoing investigations, Selmani is suspected of first strangling the 52-year-old woman and then stabbing her. After committing the murder, he tried to destroy any evidence that could link him to the crime.
Sources from the investigative team confirm that Selmani used towels and tissues to clean up blood traces at the crime scene. These items were later found in the trash bin near the apartment where the victim lived. Then, he started several fires inside the house to simulate an accident and to cover up evidence of the crime.
It was precisely these actions, along with footage from security cameras of nearby businesses, that led to Selmani’s identification and detention by the police. He was taken to the crime scene for further investigative actions and, although he denies involvement, the evidence against him is growing.
The police continue their investigations to fully clarify the motives and circumstances of the crime, while charges of premeditated murder and evidence tampering are expected to be brought against the suspect.
