POLICE / The serious incident in Korça clarified. Police issue a statement to the media

As a result of swift and professional investigations, the dynamics of the wounding of the 28-year-old, which occurred yesterday in the village of Mollaj by a 41-year-old man, have been clarified.

The 41-year-old, the suspected perpetrator of the incident, who was also injured during the conflict, has been arrested. He sustained head injuries and is currently in hospital, out of life danger.

Four other citizens have also been arrested; in cooperation with one another, they intervened to help the 28-year-old and assaulted the perpetrator of the incident.

The cutting weapon (knife) has been seized. As a result of professional and prompt investigations carried out by the Specialists for Serious Crimes Investigation at Korçë Police Directorate, in cooperation with Korçë Police Commissariat and under the direction of the Korçë Prosecutor’s Office, the circumstances of the incident that took place on 15.08.2025 in Mollaj, Korçë were clarified.

Immediately after receiving the report that a conflict had broken out in Mollaj for trivial motives, where a 28-year-old had been wounded with a knife and transported to hospital in critical condition, the Police identified, captured, and arrested the 41-year-old suspected perpetrator, specifically:

A. Q., 41 years old, resident of Mollaj village, charged with the criminal offenses of “Attempted Murder,” “Other Intentional Injuries,” and “Production, possession, purchase or sale without permit of cold weapons.”

Following further investigative actions, under the direction of the Korçë Prosecutor’s Office and based on video footage, the incident was fully clarified, leading to the arrest of four other individuals: I. D., 45 years old; Th. P., 47 years old; Dh. K., 47 years old; and B. S., 33 years old, all residents of Mollaj village, suspected of the offense of “Serious Intentional Injury committed in cooperation.”

These individuals, acting together, intervened immediately after the 41-year-old stabbed citizen A. K., striking the perpetrator with punches and causing head and body injuries.

As material evidence, the knife, one mobile phone, and video footage were seized.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
