POLICE / Prostitution in the open. Three Colombian women arrested

After several weeks of investigations using proactive methods, the police operation codenamed “Transit” has been finalized.

The operation was carried out by the Section for the Investigation of Trafficking, in cooperation with the Section for Operational Support of Investigations, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Elbasan.

Three Colombian women who were practicing prostitution in two apartments in the city of Elbasan were arrested in flagrante delicto.

The owner of the apartment was criminally prosecuted while remaining at liberty.

Sums of money in various currencies, suspected to have been obtained from this illegal activity, along with identification documents and mobile phones, were seized.

The Trafficking Investigation Section of the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Operational Support Section, as a result of intensive investigations carried out using special methods under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, finalized the operation codenamed “Transit.”

Investigations proved that prostitution was being carried out by foreign nationals in two apartments in the city of Elbasan, who contacted clients through online websites.

As part of the procedural actions, the following individuals were arrested in flagrante delicto:

D. P., 20 years old, D. M., 18 years old, and J. D., 34 years old, all Colombian nationals, for the criminal offense of “Prostitution.”

Additionally, case materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, which initiated criminal proceedings against M. J., 34 years old, the owner of the apartment where the illegal activity was conducted, for the criminal offense of “Maintaining premises for prostitution.”

During inspections of the premises where this illegal activity was carried out, sums of money in various currencies, suspected to have been obtained from the activity, as well as mobile phones and various documents, were found and seized as material evidence.

Under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, work continues to fully document this activity and to identify other individuals who may be involved.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Elbasan for further legal actions.
