Pre-trial detainee caught with an iPhone inside the cell, two other mobile phones also seized

The General Directorate of Prisons carried out a surprise operation in the Durrës prison, aimed at cracking down on prohibited items inside the institution.

According to the official announcement, the operation was conducted following information provided by operational structures and a risk analysis. The inspection was carried out in the early hours of the morning.

During the intervention, thorough searches were conducted in both the internal and external areas of the institution.

Authorities reported that three “iPhone” mobile phones were seized, all switched on and functional. One of them was found in the possession of a pre-trial detainee with the initials B.G., while the other two, along with a pair of Bluetooth headphones, were discovered inside the institution with no identified owner.

Immediately after the findings, the detainee was separated, an incident report was drafted, and a record was made for the seizure of the prohibited items. The materials have been forwarded to the SHKB specialist for further investigative procedures.

The Prison Directorate emphasized that this operation is part of increased measures to ensure security in penitentiary institutions and warned that inspections will continue with high intensity in all prisons nationwide, with zero tolerance for violations.
