Prime Minister Edi Rama, invited to the Annual Conference of the Eastern Block Commission in Berlin, a German business platform that brings together security, economic and innovation experts, as well as representatives of the Bundestag, the Chancellery, and the diplomatic corps.
In his speech, Rama said that war has returned to Europe and that strategic competition has become global, while technology is transforming not only economies and political systems, but also the way societies connect with each other.
He also emphasized that demographic decline is reshaping entire regions, while a “demographic winter” is threatening Europe’s near future.
“I am the greatest painter among prime ministers. The Western Balkans is an entire region surrounded by the European Union, physically designed in the heart of Europe, but excluded from Europe’s portrait,” Rama said, among other things in his speech.
The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Albania’s goal of European integration, stating that the country is advancing rapidly toward membership in the European Union.
“We are moving quickly toward EU integration. We want to become part of the EU before the end of this decade. We are carrying out the biggest transformation in our history,” he said.
According to Rama, the reform and modernization process of the country is closely linked to the European perspective, while Albania aims to meet all necessary standards to become a full EU member in the coming years.
