Socialist MP Briseida Çakërri has sharply attacked her former colleague Marjana Koçeku, accusing her of lacking “political courage” for giving up the parliamentary mandate she won under the Socialist Party (SP) banner, and sarcastically stating that outside the party, “not even goats would vote for her.”
To illustrate Koçeku’s departure from the Socialist parliamentary group, Çakërri referenced verses by Dritëro Agolli about ingratitude, while the majority is trying to downplay the move, describing it as an individual act with no real political weight or electoral support.
In a television appearance on “Off the Record” with Andrea Danglli on A2 CNN, Çakërri said Koçeku did not show the political courage to resign from the mandate, which she claimed was earned thanks to the Socialist Party.
“As the days passed, I became even more convinced of what was happening from the very moment she left the parliamentary group, where she did not show enough bravery to give up the mandate she received from the SP, essentially gifted by the SP,” the MP said.
In her statement, Çakërri also cited a well-known verse by Dritëro Agolli to illustrate what she described as the former MP’s behavior.
“I am reminded of Dritëro Agolli when he says: ‘I carried him in my arms all day. I even gave him my heart… Hold on! The next day, when we arrived in the village, he told others: He beat me!’ This is the most accurate expression,” she stated.
The Socialist MP openly challenged Koçeku to test her electoral support outside the Socialist Party (SP) label.
“I invite her to go and compete even with goats, because not even goats would vote for her. I have not seen any cause, nor have I seen any other statement,” Çakërri said.
These statements come at a time when the departure of Neomalësores from the Socialist parliamentary group has sparked political debate, while Socialists are trying to minimize the political weight of the move, describing it as an individual action without real electoral backing.
Meanwhile, the clash between the two MPs is expected to further fuel public debate over the reasons and consequences of Koçeku’s break from the ruling majority.
