The Agency for Police Oversight (AMP) has launched an investigation into the chain of command of the Divjakë Police Commissariat, following suspicions of abuse of office related to a large cannabis cultivation case in the area.

According to sources, the investigation concerns how the situation was handled, which led to the discovery of 1,426 cannabis sativa plants in the Divjakë area, on a state-owned plot of land near the “Divjakë Reservoir.”

It is suspected that police officials failed to carry out the necessary controls to identify and dismantle the planted drug fields in time, which resulted in the case being referred to the Prosecutor’s Office.

During the police operation, in addition to the cultivated plants, 37 kilograms of cannabis in the drying process were also seized, as well as 7 kilograms of narcotic substance in bud form.

Investigations are ongoing to determine possible responsibility within police structures in this case.
